Bio
Michael Y. Simon, MFT, is the founder of Practical Help for Parents, offering timely, evidence-based information to support parents of teens, educators, administrators and mental health professionals that serve youth daily. He is the former Director of Counseling & Student Support for Bentley School, an independent high school in Lafayette, California and a psychotherapist in private practice for close to 15 years.After teaching philosophy and psychology at the university level for many years, he worked as the Director for several organizations, including the San Francisco Psychotherapy Research Group, the Marina Counseling Center and the Harm Reduction Therapy Center. He speaks locally/nationally on parenting teens, and is currently writing a book on teens and status, looking at the complex relationship regarding anxiety over status and contemporary American youth culture.
